I am thankful today for many things. My wife, my kids, my daughter-in-laws, my grand daughter, my friends at my church, my co-workers, God's faithful provision in my life. But what excites me the most this morning is the words in a verse that I have been memorizing.
"with joy, giving thanks to the Father who has "qualified" you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light".
The Father has qualified me! Qualified: to be entitled to a particular benefit or privilege by fulfilling a necessary condition. God has entitled me to the benefit or privilege because of offering his son to fulfill a necessary condition. That is something I am thankful for, something I am not earning, but something I have. By hearing the words of what the Father has done and believing them, I become entitled to a share of inheritance. An inheritance from the divine, the creator of all things.
I know it sounds to good to be true.

Is there no difference between being qualified and being entitled? I am qualified to do many things for which I'm not entitled.
It seems like entitlement eliminates the need for grace whereby I am indeed qualified.
I want you to know that I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to get to know you better and call you friend.
I was simply using a definition of qualified. Entitled also implies something we can have if we choose to have it. Entitled does not imply that we have the benefit, but that we have access to the benefit. To access the benefit, we simply need to hear the message of the gospel, that God sent his son, and by his sons actions he has provided to us the benefit of grace and peace with God, if after hearing the message we believe it.
The hard part of the gospel, is that we want to be worthy of it which by defalt causes us to try to earn it, rather than simply believe that it is already been given. To believe that the only way to access it is to believe it, can and is humbling to the reciever.
I am thankful for you too my friend. You have helped me put meat on the bones of things that I have believed.
